Matthew Nugent, MD has been in practice in Grants Pass, OR for 3 years. He received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School in Illinois and completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center and Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. Upon completing his residency, he had additional fellowship training in sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction at the renowned Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Greenville, South Carolina.
Dr. Nugent has acted as a team physician for multiple high school, collegiate, and professional sports teams, including Arizona State University, the Colorado Rockies, Greenville Drive (Red Sox affiliate), and North Greenville University, among others. He is an admitted sports enthusiast who enjoys long-distance running, basketball, baseball, football and playing any sport with his three young children. He was a collegiate rugby player at the University of Utah and remains involved in the game.
He loves helping people get back to the activities and work they love. He has published research on both shoulder and knee injuries and has co authored a book chapter on ACL reconstruction. His ideal patient is someone who wants to get back to being active. He enjoys being with his wife and 3 kids, running, traveling and being in the outdoors.
