Dr. Robert Bents was born and raised in Oregon. He was a distinguished graduate from the US Air Force Academy and graduated from medical school at Oregon Health Sciences University in 1990. He completed Orthopedic Surgery Residency in San Antonio, TX and served as an F-16 Flight Surgeon in Misawa, Japan.
He rose to Chief of Orthopedic Services at the Air Force Academy and was the Varsity Team Physician for NCAA Division 1 Hockey, Baseball and Boxing Teams. He also treated many US Olympic Athletes during his time in Colorado. Dr. Bents relocated to Oregon in 2004 joined Paragon Orthopedic Center in 2006.
Dr. Bents is Specialty Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine and is a member of the prestigious Arthroscopy Association of Sports Medicine. He is active in research and has published numerous articles. He focuses on the treatment of shoulder and knee injuries, to include non operative and surgical options. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder and hip, as well as endoscopic carpal tunnel release. He has also performed hundreds of succesful shoulder and knee replacements.
Dr Bents serves as the team physician for Grants Pass High School and other local schools. He coaches baseball, fastpitch softball and AAU basketball. He is an avid fisherman and also enjoys baseball, snowboarding and spending time with his wife and three children.
